Farm-to-Fork Festival
October 14, 2016
The fourth annual Farm-to-Fork Festival held on Capitol Mall in Sacramento on September 24 included the popular School of Veterinary Medicine – WIFSS booth which features family-friendly games focused on testing festival goer’s food safety knowledge.
Programs at the School of Veterinary Medicine such as the Western Institute for Food Safety and Security (WIFSS), the Veterinary Medicine Teaching and Research Center and the California Animal Health and Food Safety Laboratory System, do much to protect the food supply and support agricultural producers and commodity groups.
More than 500 people visited the booth. WIFSS volunteers included Amlan Aggrawal, John Angelos, Ronald Bond, Chris Brunner, Jessica Cadriel, Emily Kunz, Bennie Osburn, Melissa Partyka, Robert Pattison, and Xiaohong Wei. Fun and challenging questions included ones such as, is it safe to keep butter at room temperature? Those of us still using the good old fashioned butter dish know the answer to this question. Yes, it’s safe to keep butter at room temperature.
Mark your calendars for the 2017 Farm-to-Fork Festival and stop by the School of Veterinary Medicine – WIFSS booth and see if you can win a prize.
